Natural rubber is firmer than other natural type mattresses. A crib mattress generally is composed of a foam core with vinyl covering. Studies have shown that mice on this mattress have a reduction of 26% of their airflow. This could be a major factor in SIDS. Many studies have confirmed the link between SIDS and chemicals but the crib industry is very large and keeps promoting cheap synthetic mattresses. This mattress replaces that foam with natural rubber and the outer with organic cotton/wool from organically raised sheep for natural flame- retardance, water- resistance, bacterial resistance and dust mite control. Passes all safety regulations and CPSC

The natural rubber core comes from a leading Malaysian supplier of natural rubber. It is manufactured from the sap of hevea brasiliensis tree commonly known as a rubber tree, which grows on plantations in Southeast Asia. This unique ingredient produces the highest quality natural rubber.

Features:
- No toxic substance or ozone depleting agent is used in the manufacture of this product.
- As a renewable resource, natural rubber is an excellent environmental choice.
- Rubber plantations help combat the greenhouse effect.
- No synthetic rubber or other fillers are used to manufacture this natural product.
- Warm in winter and cool in summer.
- Extremely durable, flexible and resilient.
- Resistant to moisture build-up.
- Naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic.
- Mold and dust free.
- The mattress cover is made from soft organic cotton fabric and quilted with organic cotton - batting and a layer of wool.
- Layer of pure wool acts as the flame retardant.
- Natural Rubber Provides Flexibility and Resilience
- Incomparable sustainability

The rubber is harvested by tapping the milk (sap) of Hevea brasiliensis (the common rubber tree). The trees grow in North Malaysian plantations especially selected for their high-quality product. No herbicides are used in these operations, because sheep graze the plantations and control growth. The Hevea milk is processed close to the plantations, because the raw product destabilizes when kept too long. Other manufacturers avoid the problem by adding chemicals. In order to bring the purest products possible, the rubber milk is harvested in the morning and molded into sheets by mid-afternoon and then shipped to the Canadian mattress plant. By having the rubber manufactured where the trees’ milk is harvested, it helps to sustain the local economy. Jobs are created without depleting the natural resources. An injection system produces the purest natural product—for mattress cores that will keep their shape. Only air, natural soap, and natural vulcanization agents are used. At the end of the mattress life cycle, the rubber breaks down, because it is a natural, biodegradable substance.
